As We Leave the Window Open centers sound as a device for experimentation and transmission. Initiated as part of Liste Expedition (Basel), artists, musicians, writers, initiatives, and researchers were invited to modulate a new experience for the online platform. Each contributor was given “carte blanche” to use the platform as an open or changing window for seven days. The rolling program of 52 contributions was released in a steady rhythm over the course of a year.
SIRG used this invitation to share research materials from Mariachis on Mars (after Gregg Barrios), including a commissioned arrangement of David Bowie’s Space Oddity performed by Mariachi Estrella de Chicago.
